Happy November y'all!
This month I have been more excited than ever for Thanksgiving! Most of all for the delicious homemade foods and desserts, long naps after the turkey dinner and watching football with the family. The older I get, the more I realize these are the moments in life I treasure; the moments where family is the highlight. Where we are able to stop and enjoy a meal with those we love. Where we can enjoy the face to face, and the connection that this special holiday provides.
I don't know about y'all, but my life is busy! It's a beautifully, crazy season! I love my life and I love the people in my life. But, sometimes my family gets forgotten in the hectic, non-stop culture we can get sucked up into. And that's why I am learning thankfulness is the key. And true thankfulness always produces genuine heart to heart connection.
So when I'm telling myself, "oh I'm too busy to spend time with my parents or call my grandpa back.." I know I need to be re-calibrated again. I take a deep breath, and let peace and love flood my heart and I ask myself a simple "why." Asking myself "why" helps me a lot! Why do I love this person? How have they impacted me? And then letting those questions be my launching pad into genuine heart to heart connection. Next, it's super simple! Tell them in a text, note, or face to face! I promise it will be such a blessing to you to see your loved one light up from that encouragement!
It may take time to re-train yourself but like a good workout regimen, you have to keep showing up and you will build those thankfulness muscles. And the rewards are great!!
God is the author of relationship and He knows what those moments do to our hearts when we have them with each other. I personally feel so full. I feel alive. And I feel loved. Those are very rich rewards that you can't find anywhere else outside of deep relationship!
To help y'all constantly be reminded of thankfulness; we have designed a new t-shirt! It's the perfect tan color and the colors are so vibrant and remind me of the beauty fall brings. By wearing this shirt, it's not only a great reminder to remain grateful but also could make a good gift for someone you are extra thankful for!
These long sleeves are a hot commodity so grab them while you can.
I will leave you with this verse that has been a strength to me!
“Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving.”
Colossians 2:6-7 ESV
Till next time,
